Distinctive traits

To identify B-Sea, you need to look at his dorsal ridge. The end of the ridge forms a series of steps, and in the front there are a few small notches.

Life history

The first time B-Sea was photographed, in 1990, he was already immaculately white. B-Sea was therefore born before 1978.

His sex was confirmed by genetic analysis of a biopsy taken from his back. He is male. B-Sea belongs to one of the two networks of males that frequent the Saguenay Fjord.

On September 6, 2005, off Pointe à Pierre-Paul in the Escoumins area, we were tossed about by the waves. We’ve just spotted a group of large white adult males. They tend to be alone, but sometimes they associate with each other for short periods. They’re not easy to approach, but we manage to take photos of four of them. One of them looks skinny.
