June 24, 2016: a fantastic trip off of Tadoussac to celebrate Saint-Jean Baptiste Day! Bright sun, light winds. Breathtaking landscapes.

Our boat slowly works its way along a tide rip between Prince Shoal and Île Rouge. Exactly like a fin whale is doing as it swims between the greenish waters of the St. Lawrence and the darker waters flowing out of the Saguenay.

Four or five minke whales are meandering not far from the fin whale.

While we’re at a standstill, a “tiny” seal surfaces just a few feet from our boat. I snap a few photos of what seems to be one very curious young harbour seal!

A short while later, we’re at the entrance of the Saguenay Fjord. A solitary beluga swims alongside the cliffs. I recognize it: it’s a regular… a “star”… it’s Yogi! Yogi is a well known female to researchers, who first encountered her in… 1987!!!

The beautiful summer has only just begun, and already there have been so many wonderful moments offshore!
