Distinctive traits

DL9182 can be recognized by a large, oblique black spot ending in a point below the dorsal crest on the left flank. A few small black and white spots can also be seen on the dorsal crest of the right flank.

Life history

Our first encounter with DL9182 was in 2022. At the time, it was gray. Beluga whales change color from gray to white between the ages of 12 and 16. It was still gray in 2023, when it was last seen.

DL9182 swims in groups of adults and young grays.
