In almost perfect unison, 13 fin whales rise to the surface to breathe! Moving at a fairly impressive clip, they continue their breathing sequence in close proximity to a research vessel that happens to be on the water at the time. Then, in the space of a few seconds, the 13 individuals plunge into the depths of the St. Lawrence. Surprised, but even more so fascinated, the scientists on board the boat realize they have just witnessed collective navigation behaviour, <span style=\"font-size: 16px; line-height: 19px;\">little documented in fin whales.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 13, 2021.
