I was fortunate enough to observe them frolicking in groups in the wake of the boat, in addition to exchanging curious glances with a few of them. I also feel privileged to have been able to admire with my own eyes the one and only narwhal in the St. Lawrence (which I affectionately nicknamed \u201cPogo\u201d) swimming with its foster pod of belugas.<\/p>\n<p>As part of my master\u2019s project in biology at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQAM), we set out to take 50 biopsies from belugas before the end of the field season.
