\u201cThe capelin are rolling like crazy here in the Gasp\u00e9,\u201d says one observer. \u201cAt least ten humpbacks have been tallied between Bonaventure Island and Perc\u00e9<\/strong>.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been seeing them blowing in small groups of two or three. Not to mention numerous minke whales. It\u2019s a feeding bonanza! And how about the hundreds of northern gannets diving right at the end of the pier in Perc\u00e9. They tirelessly gorge themselves on capelin all day long and into the evening. It\u2019s non-stop!\u201d After months without feeding and a long migration, humpback whales have a huge appetite. And as the St. Lawrence is currently offering them a feast for a king, they might as well take advantage of it!<\/p>\n

Humpbacks are therefore the ones thrilling observers in the Gulf this week. In Cloridorme<\/strong>, a local resident is treated to a splashing spectacle around lunchtime on June 8. At least two humpbacks frolic in the water opposite her home. In Longue-Pointe-de-Minguan<\/strong>, two humpbacks seem to have found a good feeding ground, where they have been skimming the waters for a week already in the company of 3 or 4 minke whales.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
