The largest animal on Earth \u2013 even bigger than the largest dinosaur \u2013 the blue whale<\/a> impresses with its sheer size. Nevertheless, despite their enormity, these animals are still quite difficult to study. With breathing sequences approaching ten minutes and their ability to cover several kilometres in a single dive, blue whales are sometimes spotted just once before they vanish from sight.<\/p>\n

On August 10, our collaborator Ren\u00e9 Roy<\/a> photographs blue whales off the coasts of Matane\u00a0<\/strong>and Grosses-Roches<\/strong>. \u201cIt was absolutely beautiful out at sea,\u201d he remarks. \u201cBlue whales have been prevalent in this area.
