The hike is well worth it! He discovers three humpbacks and two minke whales from <strong>Cap Bon-Ami<\/strong>. The animals are quite far from the coast, but through his binoculars, he can make out the backs of humpbacks that succeed one after the other. Their spouts remain invisible.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16705\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16705\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/baleinesendirect.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/BLV151121_1084-copie1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16705 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/baleinesendirect.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/BLV151121_1084-copie1-250x167.jpg\" alt=\"BLV151121_1084 - copie\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16705\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Orion \u00a9 GREMM<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the<strong> Estuary<\/strong> on November 21, the GREMM team, still on the water for the satellite transmitter <a href=\"http:\/\/baleinesendirect.org\/en\/belugas-on-the-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">project to track belugas over the winter<\/a>, is surprised to cross paths with several groups of harp seal and the fin whale Orion. Orion is recognized amongst them by the shape of his dorsal fin truncated toward the top and bottom. Since 2012, he also bears a new field mark, a scar on his peduncle which is visible from both sides. The fin whale was identified this summer. On July 29, Orion was marked with a radio transmitter for 40 minutes for the <a href=\"http:\/\/baleinesendirect.org\/en\/the-fourth-season-of-the-large-rorqual-telemetric-monitoring-project-in-the-marine-park-is-underway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Large Rorqual Telemetric Monitoring Project<\/a>. In late November of this year, Orion is not the only fin whale present in the Estuary. Two or three other individuals have been spotted earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Then, from the comfort of his own home, our collaborator in <strong>Franquelin<\/strong> (C\u00f4te-Nord region) discovered the presence of minke whales and gray seals near shore this week.
