The Committee finds that the main threats to whales are marine traffic and noise associated with human activities.<\/p>\n<p>COSEWIC is made up of 43 independent scientists who are tasked with assessing the status of each species. Their recommendations will be forwarded next fall to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada.
