September 27, 2010, south of Île Rouge, off the coast of Tadoussac: we’ve encountered a herd of some forty belugas. The herd is dominated by young gray individuals whom we’ve nicknamed the “teenagers”. Quite active, these belugas are spinning in circles, vocalizing under the surface and some are spurting out water or periodically lifting their fins above the surface. We manage to catch sight of belugas chasing their prey just below the water surface. After this feeding sequence, the herd splits up and DL1328 continues its way with about fifteen other belugas.
