Limoilou

During the only sighting of Limoilou in 1989, it was completely white, meaning it is at least 12 to 16 years old.

A single observation does not allow us to determine its sex or its summer range. In adulthood, there is a strong segregation between males and females. Females live in communities with the young, while males are often found in unisex herds.

Limoilou has only been observed once: on June 26, 1989 off Île aux Lièvres. On that occasion, this individual was accompanied by some fifteen belugas, both adults and calves. The whales stayed in place, circling each other. The animals were milling (diving in and out of the same spot over and over again). The Saguenay is a meeting zone for networks of male belugas and networks of females with young. Aggregations form here, often ephemerally, due to the abundance of food.
